Coates Butchers was founded in Trimdon Village, County Durham in 1965 by Harry Coates along with his wife Eva and his sister Mary. Through a network of van rounds the Coates name quickly became well known for Quality meats and pies.

In 1984 the business expanded to the current site in Coxhoe and went from strength to strength becoming members of the Butchers Q Guild and winning many awards over the years including best butchers in the North of England on 2 occasions and even a European accolade.

Coates award winning products are not only famous in Durham as we regularly send orders all over the country for this reason we now have an online store for your convenience.

Coates Butchers today has become synonymous with Quality of products, hygiene and service and has achieved double A standards awarded by EFSIS on every inspection to date.

At Coates Butchers we have a belief in our methods and recipes that have been passed down through the years. We also have a commitment to training with our all of our butchers having been trained in house to learn the ‘Coates way’.

We only use the best quality meats available and hand make our own Sausages, Burgers, Pies, Cooked meats as well as Dry Curing all of our own bacon.
